About Goldendoodle Advice
Hello and welcome to Goldendoodle Advice, a place where love for the Goldendoodle breed blossoms into a community of learning and sharing. I’m Kern Campbell, the proud owner of Lexie, a delightful mini Goldendoodle, and the author of “D is for Doodle.“ This website is my passion project, born from a desire to create a comprehensive, trustworthy resource for fellow Goldendoodle enthusiasts.
My journey began with Lexie, whose boundless energy and loving nature opened my eyes to the unique world of Goldendoodles. However, finding reliable information about raising and caring for her was a challenge. I encountered a lot of biased information, mostly from breeders or pet companies with commercial interests. This gap in honest, practical advice inspired me to start Goldendoodle Advice.
Here, we explore everything related to Goldendoodles — the joyous, the challenging, and everything in between. Whether you’re a new owner or a seasoned Doodle parent, my goal is to offer you a platform that educates and celebrates the special bond we share with these amazing dogs. Let’s embark on this journey together, learning and growing with our furry friends by our side.
At the heart of Goldendoodle Advice lies a mission close to my heart: to spread the love and deep understanding of Goldendoodles to as many people as possible. This mission is more than just sharing information; it’s about building a community where we can all share the good, the bad, and yes, even the ugly aspects of raising these wonderful dogs.
When Lexie became a part of my life, I quickly realized that the information available was often one-sided, primarily driven by breeders or pet-centric companies. While they provided some useful insights, there was a noticeable lack of comprehensive, unbiased information about living with and caring for a Goldendoodle. This gap in knowledge is what motivated me to take a different path – one dedicated entirely to education and real-life experiences with these dogs.
My commitment to you, as readers and fellow Goldendoodle lovers, is to provide honest, thorough, and practical advice. This website isn’t about selling you a product or convincing you of a one-size-fits-all approach. Instead, it’s about sharing real stories, real challenges, and real triumphs that come with raising a Goldendoodle. From puppyhood quirks to senior care considerations, I aim to cover all aspects of the Goldendoodle life cycle.
So, whether you’re considering bringing a Goldendoodle into your home, or you’re already sharing your life with one, Goldendoodle Advice is here to support you with knowledge, empathy, and a community that understands and appreciates the unique journey of living with these incredible dogs.
As founder of Goldendoodle Advice, my experience with Doodles began in the mid-1980s, long before the term ‘Goldendoodle’ became a part of our everyday vocabulary. Back then, my beloved childhood dog, Ginger, was a poodle mix – part miniature poodle, part mystery, thanks to her shelter-rescued dad. Ginger was special in every way. She was just a mutt to the world, but to me, she was everything. I still remember, as a five-year-old, choosing her from a litter of puppies. While her siblings cuddled up to their mom, Ginger chose to snuggle with me, marking the beginning of a 16-year journey of pure love.
Years passed, and life brought many changes, including the heartbreaking loss of our cherished Golden Retriever after 13 wonderful years. When the time came to welcome a new furry member into our family, we couldn’t bear the thought of replacing our Golden. That’s when Lexie, a mini Goldendoodle from Kaos Farm Goldendoodle, entered our lives. We saw in her a chance to honor our past while embracing a future filled with new memories. Lexie brought the joy and charisma of a Golden Retriever, but in a smaller, non-shedding package – perfect for our family.
Launching Goldendoodle Advice in 2018 was a natural progression of my lifelong passion. It’s more than just a website; it’s a tribute to every Doodle that has touched my life, from Ginger to Lexie. I wanted to create a space where the truth about living with Goldendoodles could be shared – the good, the bad, and the wonderfully quirky.
Here, you won’t find sugar-coated stories or sales pitches. Instead, you’ll discover a community grounded in real experiences, a place where we celebrate the unique bond between Goldendoodles and their humans. Whether you’re a seasoned Doodle parent or considering one for the first time, I’m here to share everything I’ve learned, from decades of personal experiences and heartfelt moments with these amazing dogs.
Goldendoodles hold a special place in the hearts of many, including mine. But what exactly makes them so unique and beloved? These dogs are not just pets; they are companions that bring a unique blend of joy, intelligence, and affection into our lives.
Firstly, Goldendoodles are renowned for their temperaments. They are typically friendly, energetic, and incredibly sociable. This makes them fantastic family pets, great with children, and wonderful companions for individuals. Their intelligence, inherited from their Poodle and Golden Retriever lineage, also makes them highly trainable and eager to please.
Their hypoallergenic coats are another reason for their popularity. Many people who are typically allergic to dogs find that they can live comfortably with a Goldendoodle, thanks to their minimal shedding. This feature, combined with their charming looks and soft, curly fur, makes them a top choice for those looking for a canine companion that’s both adorable and allergy-friendly.
But, it’s not just their physical attributes that make them stand out. Goldendoodles have a way of connecting with their owners on a deep, emotional level. They are known for being intuitive and empathetic, often sensing and responding to the emotions of those around them. This emotional intelligence makes them excellent therapy and service dogs.
On Goldendoodle Advice, you’ll find extensive information about all these aspects and more. We cover everything from understanding their unique dietary needs to grooming tips, from training advice to health care considerations. Whether you’re curious about the breed or already a devoted Goldendoodle parent, this site aims to enhance your knowledge and appreciation of these wonderful dogs.
In summary, Goldendoodles are much more than just designer dogs; they are loyal companions, intelligent friends, and a source of endless joy and love. It’s these qualities and experiences that I aim to share with you through Goldendoodle Advice.
