Dr. Sara Redding Ochoa, DVM
Meet Dr. Sara Redding Ochoa, DVM
Dr. Sara Redding Ochoa, DVM, is the embodiment of lifelong passion and commitment to veterinary medicine. Growing up surrounded by the rich fauna of North Louisiana, her childhood was filled with diverse animal companions, from the family dogs and cats to the farm’s chickens and turkeys. This early exposure to animal care ignited a flame that would lead her to a distinguished career in veterinary science.
Earning her Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science from Louisiana Tech in 2011, Dr. Ochoa’s path to veterinary excellence was further shaped at St. George’s University in Grenada, West Indies, where she not only honed her medical skills but also immersed herself in diverse cultural experiences and wildlife conservation. Her educational journey culminated with a Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, after completing her clinical year at Louisiana State University.
Now a seasoned veterinarian in East Texas, Dr. Ochoa has a special place in her heart for both small animals and exotics. Her professional expertise encompasses a wide array of treatments, with particular interests in surgery and exotic animal medicine. Beyond her clinic duties, she is an enthusiastic educator, dedicating time to teach the next generation of veterinarians and vet techs in clinical settings and sharing her knowledge and experiences with a broader audience through her contributions to Goldendoodle Advice.
Dr. Ochoa’s collaboration with Goldendoodle Advice since 2018 has been instrumental in providing readers with expertly reviewed and crafted content, ensuring pet parents receive the most reliable and actionable advice for their beloved Goldendoodles. Her articles resonate with her personal approach to veterinary care—informative, compassionate, and always patient-centric.
When she’s not in the clinic or sharing her expertise, Dr. Ochoa is a globetrotter with her husband Greg, a baker of sweet treats, and a loving pet parent to her Schnoodle Ruby, her cat Oliver James “OJ”, and her tortoise Monkey-Man. She brings this same zest for life to her work, infusing it with care, enthusiasm, and a deep-seated desire to improve the lives of pets and their owners alike.
